From the New York Herald, dated March 26, 1876:
Liederkranz Ball
The Liederkranz Society gave a masked ball, en famille, at its hall on Fourth street last night for the exclusive enjoyment of its members and their immediate friends. It was a select affair, and, notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather, a gay assemblage of gentlemen and ladies attended, most of whom appeared in rich, fancy costumes.
